10 “JUNK” FOODS YOU SHOULD AVOID

You have to admit, FOOD IS LIFE. Like we literally need it to survive.

But not all food is good for our health. Sometimes, even the most delectable food you will ever eat in your life is bad for you.

I’m talking about foods that offer very little nutritional value. Or sometimes, none at all.

As a matter of fact, these foods negatively impact your energy levels. And without energy, you’ll be unable to do the fun things in life like traveling the world or singing karaoke songs.

Heck, they may even cause long-term diseases!

To avoid that, you should stop eating these 10 “junk” foods.

1. Bagels

If you’re always on the go, your usual morning routine would probably to grab a bagel from the local bakery before heading to work. But you might want to rethink your choice of breakfast since bagels aren’t really good for your health.

A white bagel is made with white flour and white flour is known to be high in fast-absorbing carbohydrates that can cause your blood sugar levels to rapidly increase.

It’s time to switch out your bagel for something else instead.

2. Bacon

Bacon is gooooood, but bacon contains A LOT of fat. Bacon is high in saturated fat and high saturated fat intake can increase the risk of heart diseases.

Before it becomes bacon, pork meat has to go through a curing process for it to become bacon and the curing process involves large amounts of salt, so bacon has pretty high salt content, too.

3. Sugary Cereals

Cap’n Crunch and Cheerios. What do these cereals have in common? That’s right, a ridiculous amount of sugar.

Just like too much salt can be bad for your body, too much sugar can have adverse effects on your health, too.

So skip the sugary cereal and eat some Muesli instead.

4. French Fries and Potato Chips

I know what you’re thinking, “But it’s made of Potato! Potatoes are healthy!”

You’re right, potatoes are healthy. But french fries and potato chips are high in trans fat. If you’re consuming too much trans fat, you can increase your risk of developing heart disease and stroke.

5. Chocolate Chip Cookies

Everybody loves chocolate chip cookies. Especially when they’re paired with a hot glass of milk. But remember what I said about too much sugar? Take a look at this:

That’s too much sugar! So no matter how much you get addicted to chocolate chip cookies (like the cookie monster), remember to eat a healthier alternative instead.

6. Ice Cream

Just like every other dessert, ice cream is also full of sugar, calories, and cholesterol. Which isn’t really good because when your blood cholesterol level is too high, it’ll build up in your arteries and increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.

So think twice before you eat that tub of ice cream when watching Netflix!

7. Soda

Technically, soda isn’t food but it falls under this list because it has zero nutritional value to those who drink it.

When you drink soda, you won’t get full because liquid sugar doesn’t make you full. So you tend to consume more calories which in turn becomes stored fat in your body. See where I’m going here?

Next time, how about drinking water?

8. Fast Food

McDonald’s. KFC. In-n-Out Burger. Shake Shack.

You name it.

Fast food isn’t the healthiest choice either. It may be cheap and it may taste good but underneath all that are high levels of sodium, saturated fat, and trans fat.

9. Muffins

Planning on buying muffins for your party guests? Think again.

Store-bought muffins are known to have a great number of calories, fat, and sugar. One muffin is equal to around 400 calories.

Let go of your usual muffin and try healthier alternatives instead.

10. Pizza

Tomato sauce, meat, and cheese. Mix them all together and you’ve got a pizza with high amounts of calories, sodium, and carbs.

Pizza isn’t good for your health because pizza crust is typically made with refined flour and this lowers the amount of fiber, vitamins, and minerals, making it less nutritious.

Now that you know which foods to avoid, take a minute to reevaluate your food choices. Are they healthy or are you just putting “junk” into your body?
